Soooooo…I know that this post is a day late, but I have a REALLY good reason!!! I promise!!!
Yesterday, instead of doing my normal job (being a make-up artist), I had to be a model as well! YIKES!
My neighbor and good friend had a project due for her photography class and wanted to know if I would help her out. And since my last portrait for work was taken almost 6 years ago, I figured it was time for an update. But I didn’t want just any ole portrait. No boring bank investor photo for me. I decided to make a play on famous portraits. We did three different looks-all of which will have their day on the blog, but for today I’m sharing the one that I have COMPLETELY fallen in love with and have made my profile picture on ALL of my work social media. And as soon as I order new business cards, it will be on those as well. I HATE photos of myself, but I LOVE this one!
So, what do you think??? We channeled an iconic portrait of Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. It goes along with Classy on a Budget. And if you look real close, you’ll see that I am most definitely NOT promoting smoking as I’m holding a make-up brush. 🙂
So, My Favorite Thing right now? Very talented friends. Thanks SO much to the uber-fabulous Natalie A. Stevens for her phenomenal job on my portrait! I hope you get an A! You can see more of Natalie’s work HERE
Lately I’ve been into gorgeous glowy skin, but skin that doesn’t look like I have any foundation on, a more natural look.
Funny thing is that it takes MORE products to get a natural look than it does to get a “full” face! Who-da-thunk-it!
I don’t normally use photos of myself for these types of things as I’m not very fond of myself in pictures (New Look Mondays are an exception as I get to “hide” behind the cool virtual hair). 🙂 But, that being said, here I am.
Now, mind you, this is straight out of my cell phone camera (Note III) and has absolutely no editing done to it other than cropping it.
Here’s a list of the products that I used (and are in order of use):
Boots No7 True Identity Foundation in Light: I love the texture of this. It glides right over fine lines, pores, etc to give a smooth and flawless look without looking like you have foundation on.
Boots No7 Radiant Glow Concealer in Shade III: I’ve not tried Touche-Eclat which everyone always raves about, but I have tried the Chanel version and this brand (in my opinion) is so much better than the Chanel one. I used it to not only brighten my undereye area (didn’t sleep very well the night before-blanket hogging hubbie), but I also used it to highlight various parts of my face to enhance that glow. Below is a picture of me with where I put the concealer.
Mary Kay Mineral Pressed Powder in Ivory II: I’m not a fan of loose powder, too messy (especially when you have a cat and 2 kids running around). So I prefer a pressed version. I also like the idea of mineral powder so that it becomes a part of my skin instead of just sitting on top of it, caking and making me look ancient. This one even provides good coverage for a powder. Those that know me know that I don’t like powder, but I love this one!
Mary Kay Mineral Cheek Color in Strawberry Cream. Using all of those pale ivory colors, I didn’t want to use a bronze tone on my cheeks. I wanted that healthy flush and this soft pink is just right without going too Pepto-Bismol.
Boots Botanics Mineral Eye Color in Oasis. I know that this is an eye shadow duo, but I LOVE to use the darker shade on top of my blush and the lighter (more gold) shade on top of my cheek bones. It has just enough irridescence to give my skin that gorgeous glow without making me look like I got in a glitter fight nor look like a shiny mess.
You can get all of the Boots products at your local Target or on Target.com.
You can get all of the Mary Kay products HERE and they are 40% off today through Friday, February 28th! (On this website only though!)
Ok, so I seriously think that I need to have my head checked out. Me, the girl who lives in black, who doesn’t particularly care for things that are all girly has fallen in love recently with pink make-up!
Not pink like that!!! Although I have to admit, it is a rather cool pic.
I’m talking more along the lines of the Spring 2012 collection for Chanel.
Soft pink cheeks that blend so beautifully into the skin that you can’t tell if it’s make-up or if she really is blushing. Eye shadow that you can’t really see the pink, but for some reason, the blue in her eyes is positively beyond amazing. And lips flushed in such a gorgeous color that it looks like she just had an 8 hour make-out session.
Perhaps it’s that my eyes change color and I rather like the shade they turn when my eye shadow has a tinge of pink to it. Perhaps it’s that I went back to my dark brown hair and the pink tones look rather cool with it. Or perhaps I’ve been spending way too much time with my little fashionista daughter who wears as much pink as I do black! Haha!
Either way, pink make-up is my current go-to face and I’m actually going to admit that I kinda like it!
